Consent for using MARK and Shine
We have bought into NTS Maths Assessments (Years 1-6), along with Shine targeted Maths interventions, and PIRA Reading Assessments (Years 2-6) through Hodder Education. This provides children with a paper-based reading and maths assessment each term that will be used to measure their progress, provide a reading or maths age, attainment and will provide another tool for teachers to pinpoint and plan for gaps in learning. The results of these assessments will be inputted into a software system called MARK that will use the information from our management information system for each child. This will include names, dates of birth, Pupil Premium, Looked After Children, SEN and EAL. When the children’s results are entered onto MARK by their class teacher, it provides a detailed analysis of pupils’ answers and next steps in learning. Shine also provides interventions and teaching activities based on each child’s results.

Hodder Education Group software applications and data are stored in a secure network of advanced and secure data centers based in the UK.

Here you can find the information about storage, retention and deletion of data –

We will only use the assessments and enter your child’s data when you have given consent for us to add your child’s information from our system.

Consent for using Charanga and Yumu

Teachers at High Oakham Primary School currently use an online Music Scheme called Charanga to plan and deliver our Music curriculum from F2 to Year 6. Yumu is a part of Charanga which enables pupils to access online music activities from home. It is a safe, online space where students can learn, play and develop their musicianship. Yumu is an area of the Charanga platform dedicated to supporting students' music-making between lessons with assignments and student-friendly independent learning packages.

In order for our pupils to access the online activities and resources, we will need permission to create them an account using each child’s Teams username.

We will only create your child’s account when you have given consent for us to add your child’s Teams username to Yumu.

Times Tables Rock Stars

In either paper form or online, Times Tables Rock Stars is a carefully sequenced programme of times tables practice opportunities. Each Year Group concentrates on a different times table that is appropriate for their age group. This format has very successfully boosted times tables recall speed for hundreds of thousands of pupils over the last 8 years in over 16,000 schools - both primary and secondary - worldwide.

In order for our pupils to access the online activities and resources, we will need permission to create them an account using their first name and the first initial of their surname. The other data that we will input is Year group, class and gender. The online programme saves data based on pupils’ scores and times.

Bug Club

Bug Club is part of our reading program to help develop confident and motivated readers. It combines over 500 finely levelled books with interactive eBooks and an online reading world so books can be allocated to individual pupils for home reading and assess their progress instantly. This is a safe online space where children have access to an enormous range of fiction, non‑fiction and poetry, offering variety to keep children engaged and develop a love of reading. The books are finely levelled to give children manageable steps in reading progression and a real sense of ongoing achievement as they move through the levels.

In order for our pupils to access the online activities and resources, we will need permission to create them an account using their first name and their surname. The other data that we will input is class, year group and cohort. The online programme also saves data based on individual reading comprehension scores.

Spelling Shed

The Spelling Shed helps children to practise spelling via a simple game. The game gives four different degrees of support in the form of difficulty modes; Easy, Medium, Hard and Extreme. Higher levels allow a higher score to be achieved but children can practise as much as they like on lower levels before trying to gain high scores. The scores achieved give a league position and each class has its own league position within a school league and our world league. Spelling Shed also allows for homework and whole-class “Hive” games as a more interactive form of a spelling test. Your child’s teacher will set lists of words that your child should practise and will monitor their progress.

To be entered into the Spelling Shed system a small amount of information will be added to our database. We will use the children’s Teams logins as details to enter.
