Welcome to High Oakham Primary School
You are visiting this page as your child has now secured a place in our Reception F2 class for the academic year 2020/2021.
It is wonderful that you and your family will be joining our school community and we are looking forward to meeting you very soon. We understand what a huge milestone starting school is for you and your children. Although things are different this year, due to the current circumstances, we want to ensure that you feel welcome, informed and as ready as possible to start school. Normally parents are invited into school for a welcome meeting to share information about the school but we are unable to do this due to social distancing rules.
You will receive a message via email from ParentMail (29th June) asking you to confirm who you are and to download the app. We will then send you your welcome letter. This letter can be found in the documents part of this page.
To make sure you are informed as much as possible I have put some information here on the school website including the documents which you will get in your welcome pack and a link to a video showing the teachers and the Early Years environment, the EYFS booklet and the Powerpoint we would use if we were having a parents meeting.
You can come and pick up your welcome pack from school from Wednesday 1st July - Friday 3rd July, so long as you phone school and arrange a time to come and collect it. If you cannot make these days, please get in touch to rearrange.
Every family will be offered a home visit unless you have already had one of these in our Nursery, - as we cannot conduct these safely at this time, we will set a time with you to do a video call. You will be able to meet the head and the class teacher and ask any questions that you may have. These will take place in the first week of term which begins on Wednesday 2nd September.
I am unable to share any starting dates with you at this time, however, I would like to give you some idea what the first few weeks in reception will look like. Taking into account COVID 19 measures, we are hoping that all children will be able to have a visit over the 7th and 8th September and then start your allocated provision from the 9th September.
We look forward to meeting you soon and in the meantime, stay safe.
