Thanks to the schools who helped get together this amazing series of messages, including Phoenix Infant and Nursery School, High Oakham Primary School, Samuel Barlow Primary Academy and Beckingham Primary School. 👏

  • Our time will come

    Mon 27 Apr 2020

Good morning everyone - throughout lockdown, I have heard people talk about how different everything is and what they miss. There has also been lots of deliberate talk about what people are going to do when lockdown is over.

I have missed our Monday assemblies so I put some thoughts into a poem that I have called 'Our time will come'

It is on YouTube so supervision is required - follow this link.

What are you going to do when lockdown is over? What will you NOT do?

  • #ThankOurChildren campaign - our children recognised

    Mon 20 Apr 2020

Today, Sir John Peace, the Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire is launching the #ThankOurChildren campaign, which will see every child and young person in Nottinghamshire and the City of Nottingham eligible for an award from Her Majesty The Queen’s representative.

As a Head, I have received a letter from Sir John thanking schools for their contributions at this time. Speaking of the campaign, Sir John said, “We are living through a period which is very difficult for children and young people to go outside and play with their friends, to go to parks and to do things which used to be fun. But their efforts are making a difference to so many people’s lives and I just wanted to thank every single one of them, for all that they are doing.”

In a direct message to all children and young people he has said, “I just wanted to pay tribute to you and your families for everything you’ve done in this national effort. Do not under-estimate the part you have played. I think you’re amazing and please, please continue to give us more of the same”.

Click here for Sir John's message

We are so proud of our children for their part in our national effort and recognise the emotional upset that has been caused as a result of this crisis. We cannot wait to all be back together again at school when it is safe to do so. In the meantime, enjoy the recognition and the praise - a very, very well done!!

The awards will be sent out by the end of this week to every child at High Oakham via Parentmail - so watch out for these!

  • A welcome donation from Chrysalis

    Tue 14 Apr 2020

A huge thanks to local company Chrysalis for their donation of anti-bac hand gel  - this helps massively with reducing the spread of infection while caring for the children of frontline key workers and vulnerable children accessing childcare sessions at High Oakham Primary through the Easter holidays.

What a fantastic gesture, very much appreciated - everyone working together to save lives and protect each other!
