  • Key Stage 2 SATs results

    Wed 10 Jul 2019

A huge well done to our Year 6 children who received their SATs results yesterday. Great successes and efforts to celebrate! All that hard work paid off, I am so very proud of both the children and the staff!

And to top off a great day - our High Oakham leaver’s hoodies look fab!!

Remember, your results are a measure of just a few areas! Much as these are important, you all have lots of different strengths and talents too!

    A very proud Mrs Astle

  • Summer reading challenge 2019

    Wed 10 Jul 2019

Inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing, this year’s Summer Reading Challenge is an out-of-this-world-adventure.

Children are invited to read 6 library books of their choice, collecting special stickers (including some very stinky ones!) along the way, to complete their mission.

Can they find the aliens in time to save the day?https://www.inspireculture.org.uk/reading-information/childrens-library/summer-reading-challenge/

  • KS2 Sports day - cancelled

    Tue 09 Jul 2019

Unfortunately, due to the current weather conditions and the overnight rainfall, Key Stage 2 sports day is cancelled. A number of inspections have taken place throughout the morning and this lunchtime and the field is very wet and slippy.

A provisional date has been set for Monday 22nd July at 1.30pm. We apologise for any inconvenience caused however, the safety of our children is paramount.

  • Arrangements for Nursery and FS2 from the 8th July

    Fri 05 Jul 2019

Building work taking place – car park arrangements, relocation of FS1 and FS2 classes.

Substantial repairs to the drainage and heating systems, and replacement of the windows in the Early Years building are projects that have been outlined to take place for approximately 5 years. Following some intense planning and organising, this work is scheduled to take place this summer. There is a timescale of 12 weeks to ensure completion of these projects before the start of the Autumn term so therefore, the following changes are to be made.

    • FS1 and FS2 will be relocating into the main school building from the 8th July
    • F1 (Nursery) are to be dropped off and collected from the side school door just inside the Atkin Lane gate.
    • F2 (Reception) children are to be dropped off and collected at the school hall fire doors in the Key Stage one playground.
    • Throughout the day from the 8th July – 24thJuly, the car park will be busier than usual with construction vehicles making their way to the top of the car park. PLEASE BE EXTRA COURTEOUS WHEN USING THE CAR PARK TO DROP OFF OR PARK OFF SITE AND WALK UP THE SCHOOL DRIVE.
    • Tree House holiday club will not be taking place at High Oakham from the 25th July and is relocating to King Edward Primary School, who have very kindly accommodated them through the summer.

As you can imagine, this is quite an upheaval and we will need your support and patience throughout this time. As the playgrounds are going to be busier, please ensure that you are supervising your children at all times in order to keep everyone safe.

Once the work has been completed, I am sure you will all agree, the difference is going to be immense and will be absolutely worth this disruption!

  • Brunts transition

    Fri 05 Jul 2019

All High Oakham staff are very proud of those children who did us proud during their transition to secondary school. This afternoon, Mrs Astle and local heads, attended a special final transition day assembly to celebrate the awards that children were given and also to meet with the children to hear their thoughts and views on their time there. There was lots of chat about the sports days, the lunchtimes and also how many children there actually were!!! What a lovely warm atmosphere - our children have made new friends already and are feeling confident about being the best that they can be as Year 7s in September. Well done everyone, I felt very proud of you all today.

A huge thanks to the Year 6 staff and Mr Charity and his team from Brunts for making this a success.
