Safer Internet Day
Tue 05 Feb 2019Everyone at High Oakham Primary School will be celebrating Safer Internet Day 2019 on the 5th February alongside thousands of other schools both nationally and globally. The children will be taking part in different activities throughout the day that highlight the importance of using technology responsibly and safely at an age appropriate level.
The campaign encourages young people to explore how the internet works, who owns the information that is shared on it, and how they can actively take ownership of digital spaces. We want Safer Internet Day 2019 to empower young people to take control of their online lives and to feel that they can harness and use the positive power of the internet for good.
Check out our updated Online Safety page for more information on how to support your child to stay safe online - click here.

Trip to Police HQ
Fri 01 Feb 2019Our visit to Nottinghamshire Police HQ following an invitation from Nottinghamshire Police to celebrate the 1st birthday of the Mini Police scheme which our current Year 6 children took part in. We loved the tour of the armed response unit and officers equipment, meeting the newest police puppy and a tour of the underwater search unit vehicle! Our children were interviewed by The Chad newspaper and ITV central who filmed throughout.
We had a great time and the behaviour of our children was impeccable, great representatives of High Oakham Primary School - #veryproudheadteacher A huge thanks to Mrs Longmire who puts a lot of time and effort in the organisation of this scheme alongside the Mansfield local police community, much appreciated - #aboveandbeyond #consideringchildrensfutures #ittakesavillagetoraiseachildThis is the link here or below to the Chad newspaper to read more about our adventure!

High five day!
Mon 21 Jan 2019Today we have been thinking about the power of positivity and how noticing each other and giving each other a high five can boost our emotions and help drive our resilience. Today schools across Nottinghamshire have joined with King Edwin Primary and have been spreading a bit of positivity by giving a high five and High Oakham Primary have too - even when faced with times of difficulty and worries, we can find time to share a smile and a high five!
Well done everyone - great high fives!

New Facebook & Twitter sites
Sun 13 Jan 2019We are pleased to announce that our school has now got a Facebook and Twitter account which are linked to our school website's latest news page. Any information appearing on here will automatically appear on our social media sites.
These sites are to be used as information only and will not be used as a communication tool between parents/carers/relatives/visitors and school - use of the sites will be moderated and issues will be dealt with appropriately - as in real life - if you are not going to shout something on the street or in the playground, you would not write it online.
